An interesting article that discusses my favourite crime fighter - Gil Grissom - and how the popularity of one of television's most consistently under-written leading men may be the leading edge of a trend away from the touchy-feely emotional sharing that too often clogs our airwaves (and blogs...no offense ;).

I have a small issue with the article. When mentioning that Gil is a sex symbol, they ignore what I feel is a core fact. Gil is reserved and closed off, yes, but that is not why women find him attractive. Women find the character attractive due to his Excellence in his field.
In the movie the Tao of Steve, its says there are 3 keys to picking up woman.
1. Eliminate your desires.
2. Be Excellent at something in her presense
3. Be gone after the first two.
The point in the second rule is important. If you were a closed off loser who sits in his parents basement, you are not a sex symbol. It is the very fact that he is so good at what he does that makes him attractive. He is obviously skillful, which is something a woman looks for in a mate.
